Hey all, so, recently when i open my sunroof, into any position, it makes a cracking sound, also makes the sound when closing. anyone mind helping me out on what it might be breaking?

 

There's a plastic track that the window slides on. The plastic gets old and brittle and will fall into the track. As you operate the sunroof, the plastic chips bind into the track and you will not be able to open or close the sunroof completely. Personally, I wouldn't turn it on until you have time to really take a look at it and are ready to replace it. You can try to clean out the track, but I've found it to be a hassle to get the sunroof out and back in (Take down ceiling and panels, drop sunroof down, out through the trunk. Back in is the hard part).

I have 2 sunroofs and tracks in my basement with this problem and the one installed in my car barely works too.

Sorry for the lack of car jargon, but take it for what it's worth.
