Default Sunroof Stopped Working

So my sunroof just randomly stopped working. Googling leads to a common electrical problem with the **** switch, but my car has a smaller simple rectangular switch. I'm not sure if it's a different decor or aftermarket but I assume it's a different decor as my interior lights do not have the **** type switch as shown on Google.

Does anyone know a troubleshooting guide to try and fix it?

I've done several switches, but I've never seen the style you're talking about.
Try checking the fuse. If the fuse is fine and the roof is open, manually close the roof and check your switch the same as you would the **** (it's just two metal contacts).
Before you tear the switch apart, make sure you have a spare.
Also, try opening the roof with the switch. See if it works one way and not the other.

Thanks for replying.

I'll take a photo next time I'm in my car, it must be an aftermarket one.

I'm going to check the fuse, see if I can jump the switch to get it operating (to work out if it's the switch or not), see if I can dislodge the sunroof a little (it's in the closed position and hasn't been used for a couple of weeks) - maybe it's just a little stuck at the start and the motor can't move it.

Other than that, not sure!

I think it might be an aftermarket system as it has a switch like this

That's very interesting. It looks like an Audi switch though - and the install looks stock/really profesional.

So it is an aftermarket. I noticed the aftermarket brand name on the internal slider. Also the problem solved itself.... it could have been me. I was trying to operate with ignition on but not the engine on. It appears that it only operates when the engine is on.

That means whoever installed it, wired it wrong.

Makes me feel like slightly less of an idiot then.
