Default Taking the Resonator out?

Hello B5 members!

I own a 1998 a4 1.8t and i was wondering if it was a good idea to take my resonator out, everything with the exhaust right now is stock except the tips but that doesn't really do anything.

Let me know what you thing and what are the nays and the yays!

thanks!

Yeah I dunno about that one. It'll be louder and probably sound cool for a day or two. But you're going to drone somethin' fierce at speed and will undoubtedly get sick of all the racket.

It all depends on what you're going for. With the stock muffler I'd say leave it but if your going for a full cat-back take it off or it'll sound like a Honda.

Not to thread jack, but I was considering this as well and thought it'd be a waste to start a new thread for essentially the same topic. Anyhow, in my case I have a Brüllen cat back on my 2.8 and I like the sound of it but am undoubtedly curious of how it would sound to do a res delete on this setup.

yeha thanks guys, i know my friend has a 00' passat 1.8t and his engine is basically if not totally the same, he took his resonator out and it doesnt sound too bad, not too noisy but just enough to make it sound pretty nice. I might give it a try, just thought someone out there tried this on their a4 b5 haha

Well that's actually where a lot of Honda guys **** up. They get the fart cans, leave the stock resonator on, and it's raspy as hell and sounds like ***.

I would honestly say don't ditch the resonator unless you're getting an aftermarket muffler.
