So just noticing this but i live in MI and obviously winter is approaching with the cold weather but looking at my Temp Gauge when driving it never seems to get to Operating Temp. it always stays in the "colder" region. Thermostat? or bigger issue? i just dont want to damage engine in any way

 

How hot is the heat?

 

Heat is good the air vents are good no issues in that area

 

probably tstat, or coolant temp sensor. try shutting the heat off and seeing if the temp raises

 

I would pop a new thermostat in it. Looks like it might be partially stuck open.
