Default Temperature Gauge does not Work

hi.. i have an 1999 audi a4 1.8t, i have a problem on my temp gauge my temp gauge doesnt work. any help will be highly appreciated thanks.

chances are its the ECT sensor

check out www.ecstuning.com, they have tons of OEM and performance parts. Thats where I got my oil temp sensor.

do they have the oil temp sensor at kragen or something?

if its the coolant gauge then why do you need one for the oil. this is quite a common problem with the g62 tempreture sensor (ive also heard it called the F76 thermoswitch)

here the link for a DIY. just make sure which sensor you need for your car i believe its the square blue top but it may also be the updated half cresent green top. its like $25 shipped from ecs or try NAPA, i got mine there for 12.
