Test Pipe..
Hye guys.. im just wondering im planning to get a test pipe and i was wondering which testpipe is good..?? Ebay or are there special site that sell A4 parts... and also where would the O2 sensor go???
as long as your not buying one for $35 on ebay, its probably good. plan on spending 100-200 bucks and you will get a decent one. make sure it has 2 O2 bungs welded into it so you can transfer your sensors over. the rear sensor sometimes needs a spacer in it to prevent a CEL, search for more info. a test pipe is just a piece of pipe with a flange welded on each end. as long as the welds are solid, its fine.
There are several members who have had an ebay test pipe for a long time with no issues. Like said, it's just a damn pipe with a couple flanges and bungs. The welds on the ebay pipes look Superior to the one's on my ATP test pipe that I paid $100+ more for. If I get a tp for the 97 I'm giving ebay a shot. It's pretty insane what some audi related shops/sites are charging for this. Almost offensive.
Probably the cheapest tp I'd trust is the 2.5 VMR for $100. I know several guys who have had a custom DP fabbed up. If you know a good welder this shouldn't be a problem. Try to do some coating to inhibit heat within the pipe. I wouldn't care what brand pipe, as long as its ceramic coated or heat insulated. Otherwise they defeat their purpose.
