thumping under moderate braking

FACKKKK... I thought it was fixed but the sound comes and go's now.

That sounds shitty, were kinda having a debate about it but thinking ABS is malfunctioning or bad CV joint. The ABS I've herd of but the CV is kind if a long shot.

you think the abs could only be affecting one side?

Thats to weird, thats the same EXACT thing my a4 does, in my case, it only does it after I do a pull in the car, but its the same noise from the passenger side and I have a brand new ABS control unit etc.

There's an ABS sensor in each hub, I'm also thinking the traction control might be thinking that wheel is slipping while under moderate braking and assisting.

Have you tried with blank rotors? Slotted rotors are useless on the street and tend to just create noise. I'd go thru and re-read the thread, but I'm on my mobile so it takes too long. Other suggestions are axle or loose caliper slides. Also check your ball joints and tie rod ends at the spindle for play.

everything on the calipers tight... im leaning toward an issue with the axel

Hello, did this issue come to a solution? I'm having the exact same problem on the left front. Brake rotors are very rusty, removed rust from both sides but the problem persists.
