Time to move to an Audi
Hey everyone, to start out im am looking at the B5 a4 with the 2.8 manual, quattro, and 2.8 maybe around 98 like this(http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national)
So my question is should i go with the 2.8 or the 1.8(what should i look for), i want the 2.8 becasue i want to put a supercharger kit on it from PES
, also what other performace is there for either one, ex. heads, cams, headers, etc
thanks

thanks that help alot, i did notice that there is about 5xtimes more performance upgrades for the 1.8 than the 2.8, the only real ugrade for the 2.8 is the supercharger kit and exhaust and a chip, is there more out there at all like a cam or even headers?
what u found for the 2.8 is pretty much it, its a reliable engine not a modded engine like the 1.8t
Years ago some company made headers but they were extremely expensive, had minimal gains unless paired with a supercharger, and required an engine pull to install. I'm sure cams are out there but they're going to give minimal gains considering the stock cams breathe fine even with the blower.
It sounds like you're a modding kind of guy so go for the 1.8T or an S4. On a 1.8T you'll spend $500-600 to be as quick as a 2.8, but after that the gains will continue. On an S4, that same money puts you above 300hp.
Don't get a 2.8 if you're looking to make a lot of power. You're looking at it from a musclecar-modding perspective but these cars don't respond as much to the breathing mods as a bigger (and less-efficiently designed) engine does. Read the FAQ again in the section on mods for the cars. It'll point you down the right path.
