Well I'm new here, just bought a 01 A4 1.8T and was not sure if the previous owner had timing belt done or not, so I figured replace it better be safe than sorry. Anyway my friend also a good mechanic told me to get a kit from www.blauparts.com its like $260 for the kit but it has everything (water pump, timing and serpentine belts, seals, even the pink audi coolant) also comes with instructions on how to change the belts. Once again I'm new to Audi so not sure if this is cheapest or not but that is what I did.

Parts cost will depend on what car you have, if it is a 1.8t a full kit will cost you no more then $255. Shouldn't take more then a few hrs to do the job.

If diy most of the kits are about $240-$280 from Blau or from ECS. I was going to do mine this weekend but due to money issues have had to put it off. If you plan on paying someone else expect about $700+ for them to do it.

$250 for parts, probably about the same for labor if you know where to go.
