Default What Should a Timing Belt Job Cost

Assume you also do water pump and thermostat:

A) at a dealership $$?
B) at an independent mechanic $$?

Thanks

DPR Auto Repair, MN gave me a quote - $450 without parts. ECS tuning kit runs around $300 depending on what you want. This is non- audi specialized shop.

Last year another shop did TB on my A4 B5 for $700 for everything;

a = last resort
b = call around (as told anywhere between 700-1000)

I picked up my timing belt kit for 200 bux from here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...mZ350107468253 Exact same parts and part makers that come in the ECS kit. Bugatti water pump, continental belts, ect ect...then I got a local shop to install everything but the thermostat for 350 bux

Buy the kit at either Diesel Geek or ECS Tuning. Comes with EVERTHING.
Dealership will buy the parts themselves (they won't accept your parts), normally I believe $900-1200. Private if he's nice enough accept the parts & charge you 4 hours of labor (That's what AllData says). If he's VW/Audi experience he might go quicker. Or do it yourself. Learn about your car a little.

They are the ones that did my head and timing belt and everything. 500 isn't bad.
