You didn't say what motor you have, and if it's the 1.8T there's a split in the year....so with that in mind, here are the different kits at Blauparts:

2001(early model) 1.8T http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GH21103-C

2001(late model) 1.8T http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GH21105-A

2001 2.8L 30V http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=GH21112-A

Remember that if you do this yourself, Blauparts also has some essential tools for rent which will make this much easier.

How can I determine if my vehicle is the early or late model?

Hmm, good question. On my 1999.5, it was easy because mine has many facelift items like projector headlights, a redesigned center console, and new tail lights. Also, the manufacture date on mine was 8/99', so I knew I had the 1999.5 instead of the 1999.

On your 2001, I'm afraid I'm not sure. Maybe one of the experten can chime in with the details.

Easiest way to get the right parts is to call ECS and give them your VIN number. They can send the right kit based on that.

I'll PM you momentarily with my contact info and I can talk things over with you.

Score... this is what the forums are all about!

If I wasn't a member, I never would have tackled my own TB and CAs, and a couple other little thing here and there. ****, I never would have known to change the TB at all

According to Blauparts, the split between early and late AWMs occurred at VIN 042385. So check the last six digits of your VIN to see whether you're early or late.

Disturbingly, there's no mention of a split in the Bentley manual. Are there official VAG manuals available?
