Tiptronic High Revs and Problems Changing Up

Tiptronic High Revs and Problems Changing Up
Hi there .. First post .. so be gentle with me.
I've got a UK 1998 2.4 Audi Avant SE V6 Auto with a tiptronic box and 110k on the clock. Had the car for about 4 months and its been great but I don't know its history. Last two weeks .. after its warmed up, it doesn't want to change up through the gears in the Auto mode. Revs get very high before it changes and sometimes it won't change up at all. Can hardly get it out of 3rd when it happens .. but .. when I put it into tiptronic mode it changes up fine. Doesn't do this all time (can do short run with no problems) .. but seems to get worse as the car becomes warmer and the more its run.
Read a few of the threads on this site (and other sites) and it appears that this could be as simple as a transmission fluid change or a very big gearbox problem. Any thoughts so I can tackle the garage I bought it from?
Cheers

I'd bet my money on transmission fluid low,or Transmission control module on the way out,my Transmission control module died on me and i got one off ebay for 194.99 used, replaced it with my old dead one and its been great, then i had to replace one bad ignition coil, everything is running perfect since.
P.S. I forgot that the ignition coils on our cars, had a recall on ignition coils,so i took my 2001 Audi A4 quad to my local Audi dealer and had all four replaced for FREE!
