Default Tire size

I'm thinking of picking up some rims off a 96 s500 and getting them cleaned up and painted. they currently have 235/50/18 size tires on them. will these fit???

btw i'm on stock suspsension right now.

I think so but it may be a bit tight. How big are the wheels?

They'll fit but you'll have a decent difference in speedometer/odometer readings - they'll be thrown off by several percent. Do a search on google for "tire size calculator" and you can play around with different sizes to see what differences you'll have. FYI, going to an 18" wheel, the optimum size to maintain accurate calibrations is 225-40-18, so a 235-50 is going to read quite a bit slower than you're actually going. It won't hurt anything physically but you should know the error so you can avoid tickets. Also, by using that tire size, you're going to effectively lengthen your final drive ratio - you'll accelerate more slowly, but top out at a faster speed. Oh, and a 50-series tire in that size is going to have quite a sidewall - good for bump/impact absorption, crappy for style
