Ok so been hearing some noise in the top end of my engine. 96 a4 qm 2.8v6 12v. Car has 265k on her runs good otherwise just when your either driving it or revving in neutral from about 2500rpm-3900rpm but then goes away after that or before it. Sounds like some rattling apart like a loose lifter or something anybody have any experience with this in a 12v

 

Ok so no the oil is boiling hit 250 and kept going any ideas

 

Start by finding which bank is making the noise. Buy a stethoscope and an auto parts store. I think you have to start by pulling the valve cover off the side that makes the noise. On my dear departed 96 I had a piece of one of those plastic oil splash screens break off and rattle on the cam. You might pull cam caps and look for a spun bearing.

 

Dont matter now thanks again but headgasket blew on it besides that noise
