I have a 1999 A4 quattro 1.8t. It was leaking a little bit of tranny fluid so i took it to the shop and they serviced my transmission and replaced the gaskets. They informed me that when they emptied my tranny fluid that the color wasnt to good. They said the color indicated that there might be some metal in my transmission due to the metalic look in the fluid. They said i might need a new tranny sometime but they cant say when. The car has 115k and the tranny has never been serviced. What should i do?

Is it automatic or manual?

 

Any slipping while shifting or hard going into gears? Really if anything just keep driving it and have it in the back of your mind if it goes it goes. If it is slipping start saving some cash. A lot of places will say that sort of stuff to get you worried and get some extra business.
