Tranny problems
I'm new to audi's and I just bought a Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 B5 and a Audi A6 Quattro 2.8 B5 both auto. The A4 is having some tranny problems, it doesn't like to stay in reverse I have to hold it there and it kinda jerks when I put in reverse, also sometimes it doesn't go into drive it just goes to 4th and when it does go into drive about a sec or two after it shifts in to 2nd it kinda slips an the rpms go way up then it catches, anybody know what that would be? Also would it be possible to just swap the tranny from my A6 into my A4...is it the same tranny?

The A4 tranny problems could be a lot of things, most of them really bad. I've pulled the auto trans on an A4 Q and it's not a small job. Once you get that out you don't want to put back in unless you've had a tranny expert take a good look in there.
Can you swap with the A6? Maybe. At any point in time, it's not uncommon for those two cars to use the same motors, trannies, etc. You need to look for the tranny code on those two cars and do some research. It's a plate covered with oil on the bottom of the tranny. It will probably say 5hp-19, but there is also a 3 letter code on there. You need that from both trannies and start researching to see if that code works on your year of A4.
