i have a 1997 audi a4 quattro 5-speed, and i just put in a new tranny but now 2nd gear keeps popping out, but is strong and takes off fine when i hold it back,and now my 3rd gear around 2K on the tac it pops out as well. i am totaly clueless, any HELP?!

 

popping out of gear is usualy because of worn synchros.

 

ok, i am totaly clueless as to what the "synchros" are .. is that in my synchro box? and how would i go about fixing that.?

 

synchros are sort of gears that help the main gears mesh easier by SYNCHROnizing the speed of each gear so they dont grind, and make it easier for the average person who might not know how to drive stick to use the car. they are what prevent you from putting the car in gear without the clutch pushed in, and are located in the transmission. you would need to have the transmission rebuilt to replace them if that is in fact your problem.
