Front main seal (crank shaft seal)? Rear main seal? You would be leaking engine oil if one was bad, not tranny fluid. Neither would cause the tranny to shift differently. Look at your copy of the work order to see what was done. Did they address the TCM related fault code? You've got so much money in this car you might as well just drive it for a while. You are sure to be upside down on it if you were to sell/trade right?

Never heard of a "harness" seal. If it was leaking towards one of the wheels then it could be from where the axle goes in, there is a casing or flange that bolts up to the side of the tranny. There is a seal there. That had to be it. Tip fluid is brown, like honey. Not sure if anyone ever answered that question. I can't believe they charge $58 for a pan gasket and $18 for a screw.... $18.50 for a qt of fluid.... Wow... Utter rape.... FYI, this would cost less than $100 as a DIY job... You should make friends with an Audi tech (or anyone who can identify a leak/work on a car outside of the dealer) before your parents disown you.

Thats a sin that your dad knows more about your Audi than you do.

My dad always thinks he knows more about my Audi. He can diagnose a problem where I can't but when it comes down to it we had a quattro 1.8t come in and he made the comment that he never understood snow tires on a fwd car... I was just like its awd...

im 18... my dad has the records filed. i never read them. i knew i blew a seal, when the dealer said they replaced the front main seal. i said to my dad isnt that the seal that was already replaced and he said no it was the rear main. my dad only knew that cause he read the old service records.
