ive got the tiptronic tranny, and sometimes if im driving up a hill its like the clutch disengages and the rpm's go up, but i dont speed up, and then all of the sudden it clunks and clutch is re engaged...


my tranny isnt goin out is it? cause i heard tip tranny's are a pain to rebuild

it sounds like to me your tranny is on its way out? you have 125k on it? how often does it do that?

yeah its right at 125,000. it doesnt do it very often. definitely not repetitive enough to show someone

my audi did the same thing and i had 115000 on it after awhile it really starts slippin and the gear your in doesnt get highlighted anymore theyre all in the red and then my first gear just was destroyed the car still drives but you gotta wait till the car recognizes the problem and starts out in second. i would get it looked at now before you end up like me

Could be a bad torque convertor clutch solenoid.

Check the fluid level first. If it's low, look for leaks and top it up before it gets damaged.

how much you think a rebuild would cost me?

Well you don't need a rebuild for a bad tcc solenoid. You need to figure out what's wrong before you just rebuild it.

I had mine redone. I think i got an alright deal. I paied 2700 dollars after taxes for new TC and rebuild. And 2.5 hours of engine work. So roughly 2500. Canadain.

And what was done? A new TC and valve body are not really a rebuild. The valve body alone on most Audis and VWs run about $2000 U.S.
