Trunk button envy
I'm currently living on the edge with just one key/remote. I need a spare!
Ok, I found the posts on how to swap out the blade and program the remote. I see the Ebay listings. And I get that matching the part number will make sure it works. But I've also seen vague references to backward compatibility. IE newer remotes might work with older cars.
I want to push the envelope!
My current remote does not have a trunk button.
Other people have trunk buttons, I want a trunk button!
My part number and FCC id are:
4D0 837 231 D
MZ2 410 819 6 4
Does anyone know if this model, With a Trunk Button, would work?
4D0.837.231.E
FCC ID: MZ2 410 819 6 3
Its a 99.5 1.8TQT, so its already got identity issues.
I'm the second owner, so I'm not even sure if the key/remote I have is the original.
Thanks!

Well... the other reason is that the three button remotes seem a lot easier to find. But The A6 retro trunk release sounds like it could be interesting.
One of the unknowns is if the one I have is original or not. But I just looked at the owners manual, and it also shows the two button remote, three if you count the panic button.
