Default Trying to replace coolant sensor

Im trying to replace my coolant sensor but above it/in the way is a black thing with 3 end with stuff connected to it. It has the 3 hose clamps one of them is a one time use clamp. What is this intersection of hoses? Can I remove them to get to the sensor?

Scratch that, I got to the sensor. What is that black piping that runs up the passenger side? It is filled with this Mustardy looking crap which I assume is from when I mixed g12 coolant with regular crap. How screwed am I?

The piping you're talking about is part of the PCV system. The lower part of the hose goes to the crank case vent, the upper/middle inlet is the valve cover vent, and the other side goes down to pancake valve on the turbo inlet pipe. There shouldn't be any coolant in there, so the "mustardy" stuff you're describing must be from something else.

Hmm.......the whole thing including the pancake valve had yellow gunk through/in it. What could it be?

Are you seeing any oil in your coolant or coolant in your oil?

That tube is for crankcase ventilation, so it can contain anything that gets spit out.
Usually it's just oil vapor... I can't imagine what could be in there that's a mustard color, particularly if your oil and coolant aren't mixing.

Could just be from the cold, I see something similar in my catch can from time to time during the colder months.
