I see a lot of turbo's with 5 bolt setup out the back. The cat is a three bolt setup. I ask because my friend works at a mazda dealership and he sells these to vw mechanics and he says they will work on my car. Is there an adapter or anything else I can do to bolt it to my cat?

You gotta change your exhaust manifold and cat to accomidate a turbo that's not the stock 3 bolt flange design. There is no room for adapters to be used. If only our cars came stock with the t3/t4 bolt pattern... Everyone would have a BT.
