Valve Cover Gaskets/ Engine Mounts
I have a 2001 a4 2.8 quattro. Everytime I go to the garage they come with something new.
Now they are telling me that the valve cover gaskets are starting to leak and the engine mounts need to be replaced.
Can someone tell me how much wld this cost ? and is it something that I need to do asap ?
Thanks for all the help.

VC gaskets are a snap - even drinking beer and screwing off, you can have them replaced in under an hour, and the parts are around $50 for both sides total from ECS Tuning or PureMS. Be warned - the PCV breather hose (squared-off corrugated hose going from one valve cover to the other) will break. You can repair it with electrical tape and you'll be fine. Also, look just in front of the driver's side valve cover, behind the timing plate - there's a small diameter vacuum line running from the solenoid panel at the top rear of the engine, along the top of the valve cover, and down to the evap canister in the lower front left corner of the car - it goes straight in the top. This line WILL break when you so much as hiccup in its general direction. However, it's a rigid plastic. Before you start the job, get a piece of silicone hose whose inside diameter is the same as the outside diameter of this vacuum line, so that you can use it as a coupling to put the broken line back together.
Other than those two snags, it's easy. You want to be careful reinstalling the valve covers though, as the VC gaskets are actually a little longer than the edge of the valve covers that they're sealing, and it's easy to get part of it rolled or improperly installed, which will crate a leak. Take your time and move slowly, and you'll get it though - it's a pretty straightforward DIY without any real tips or tricks to get you through.
