Default VVME lights - Where to mount the ballasts

I'm hoping to receive my lights from VVME pretty soon. I was wondering, for those who have the lights, where did you mount the ballasts?

If you can take some time, remove your headlights so you'll have access to the underside of the radiator crossmember, beneath the lights (it's where the lights sit). Position the ballasts underneath, drill down through, and bolt them to the crossmember.

If you don't want to go through that, the easy location for the driver's side is between the ABS controller and the power steering reservoir. On the passenger side, if you have a cone intake, use the bolt in the fender that used to support the OEM airbox, and mount the ballast off of that. If you have the OEM airbox, you're more restricted, especially on the 1.8T, since everything is so close to the back of the headlight.

You can put the passenger ballast inside the fender (remove the corner lamp and/or headlight to get access), or you could even put it inside the airbox - I've seen that done as well.

You'll just have to be creative with the passenger side. The driver's side is easy though.

+1 im getting my DDM kit within the next 2 weeks. I have a cone but im not sure if im going to keep it on there. I wanted to order the extra small ballist but ill pinch $$ where i can. Upstate, you ever think of mounting them directly on the headlight cover, is it big enuf? my car is all the way in the parking lot, i cant look lol. i figure that would look clean if its big enough, and square enough.

I don't think the cover is big enough for mounting them cleanly, but it could be. You'd probably have to mickey-mouse them on there though, and it may not look too good. Also, you have considerable cable length to worry about and it's going to either hang down in the bay or be shoved into the housings - neither is all that great an idea.

This is where I installed mine, it keeps them pretty well protected and out of the way. Just be sure to aim your lights when you finish.

It goes in the U-Shape of the radiator core support which is under the headlight housing.

Just make sure there mounted well. PO of my car didnt mount the passenger one AT ALL as you can imagine this created some issues after a while. The 12v power from the car started to arc in the connector and eventually was too corroded to give any power and didn't trigger the ballast.
