WANTING info on lowering 99.5 quattro
its been awhile since ive been on here so sorry if this is in the wrong post i have a 99.5 awd i just put new kyb shocks and tires on it and this is my DD and i want to get rid of the wheel gap. can i just put some tein springs on it and be done or do i need to swap any control arms or anything? Thanks
Ok thanks. On ebay there are alot of tein and Megan. Springs but they all say for FWD or 1.8. Does it really matter?
When you install the new lowering springs, you'll want to loosen the bolts from the control arms to the sub-frame/upper strut mount bracket, jack up the suspension (carefully) to "ride height" and torque the bolts down to spec. The reason being is that the control arms will now be at lesser of an angle than before when the car was higher. The rubber bushings will twist and soon tear if they aren't tightened at the new ride height.
If you have a 2.8, get the Tein S-Tech. I just installed them on mine and love it. I went from 27" gtf to 24 7/8". If you have the 1.8, then you're limited to other varieties as the S-Tech isn't offered for that engine.
