Weird steering/alignment
hey guys, i have had this problem for quite a while now and it really bugs the hell out of me.
My control arms were recently replaced and was followed with an alignment. I've had this problem even before all those were recently done.
1) When I turn the steering wheel to the left, i can feel the steering wheel give me tension(like the steering wheel wants to return back to its normal position which would be straight).
2) When I steer right, the steering wheel doesnt have much tension. In fact, i can turn my steering wheel a few degrees to the right and just hit on the gas and the steering wheel will stay at the position.
3) If im driving on a road that banks to the left, I can actually keep my steering wheel straight and I'm able to follow the lane.
4) If i driving on a road that banks to the right, I would have to turn my steering wheel more to the right to stay on the lane.
im thinking, could the power steering fluid line on the right side be somewhat pinched or something? Where would that line be?

If anyone disconnected the steering column from the steering rack, then didn't get it back on with the rack centered, you'd get that symptom. Point the car straight ahead. Turn the wheel all the way to the left and count the turns. Turn it back straight, then to the right and count the turns. They should be the same. If not, someone screwed up.

Bumping this old thread ...
I'm experiencing a very similar problem. Also had all front CA's and the rack replaced. If I turn the wheel all the way to the right, the bottom of the wheel hits approximately "11:30" (30 minutes before noon), but if I turn it all the way to the left, the bottom hits approximately "1:30" (90 minutes after noon). Is that enough of a difference to cause a problem like this? Repeated alignments have failed to solve whatever the problem is, so I'm thinking it has to be something deeper like this.
