***DISCLAIMER: I don't want to have a huge argument about this with the few people who still think that BOVs on a closed loop system are ok.***
Went to the Commonwealth Audi dealer, which is 5mins from my apartment, and bought another key fob. $171 out the door. Sure I could have paid far less over the internet but if it doesn't work (for whatever reason) then I can personally bitch at someone.
What did I do to my C5 today? (yesterday actually)
started to investigate where my leaky leaks are leaking from. I think I have a coolant leak near the thermostat (again). only seems to happen when it is cold and it is just a few drops at a time but it is really annoying and now that it is winter time... Anyway I'm too lazy (and don't have time) to pull the front end again and investigate completely so I just creeped around underneath it and looked.
Tried to find out where my oil disappears to. Took the intake apart, removed the y-pipe, cleaned lubed my DVs. Defintely a lot of excess oil in the intake train, y-pipe, bi-pipe, F-hoses and down into the intercoolers (really need to do a catch can). pulled the sides of the crankcase breather hose to make sure it wasn't too terribly clogged (pancake valve too). some nasty oil/gunk in there but not enough to restrict airflow. Chekced the area around the valve covers for leaks and they are actually pretty clean. Most of the old oil buildup is on the backsides of the valve covers (cam caps? half moon seals?) It is a mess.
cursed the stupid audi pinch clamps, of which i still have several because I was working without my "clamp box" so I didn't have any to replace them with. got fed up and frustrated and just threw the whole thing back together (broke some non-essential plastic bits here and there). was almost certain that it wouldn't start back up again, but it did. Seems to be fine.
washed it and parked it.
