i have a 1997 2.8 a4. i have money to buy an exhaust kit but dont know where to start.

I am looking to put in an exhaust as well, but I personally do not know of any full kits for the 12v engine we have. A few places make mufflers for our cars, but that's about it. Most people with 12v's do custom exhausts and usually start with a muffler like Magnaflow.

 

go custom....If i had a 12v i would go dual 2.25"piping to a resonator to a magnaflow muffler...

yea depends what you want...if you want a screaming bad *** sounding muffler get 2.25 or 2.5" pipe to a Magnaflow....if you just want a deep kinda quiet sound same set-up + resonator...go on you tube and search on there a lot of people have sound clips for different set-ups and mufflers...

Go with straight throw res aka res delete and go with a Magnaflow 14816 muffler

read the exhaust section, u can also listen to clips of how it sounds. that way u can make your own good decision!

 

Cat back custom for sure. 2.5" piping, and Remus or Magnaflow are good choices.
