A nice set of metric sockets, wrenches, allen keys/sockets will cover just about everything you need. Only other thing thats *extremely* helpful, though not necessary, is the brake tool you can rent from Advance or Autozone. That thing made my life a lot easier when doing the back brakes on my last A4

ditto, and the 7mm allen wrench, some lesser sets don't have them for some reason. That may be just the front brakes, can't remember now.

MAKE SURE you get the brake tool from Auto Zone (just do their free tool borrowing). You have to compress and turn the rotors at the same time. So you can't just put a C clmp on it and compress.

I destroyed a brand new caliper the first time I did the breaks on my A4 because I just tried to squeeze it with a c clamp.

It will make the jobMUCH easier and you won't ruin a $100 caliper.

Good call on that 7mm allen, Brad. Forgot that wasn't included in the cheap allen sets.

I only remember because I was so pissed off going to 4 different stores to find the damn thing... Then I had to pay out the *** for a set with it in it... and the car was ripped apart, and the wife was gone somewhere, so I had to bum a ride with a friend... total PITA... but now I have a nice set of metric allen wrenches for my ratchet... makes simple tasks like pulling the coil packs for a spark plug change that much easier.
