Default What's your 1.8t spark plug preference?

All I've ever used so far are the ngk v-power plugs mostly because of the price, but I notice that I start getting misfires under boost after only about 7k. I also notice some rough idle occasinally. On the ngk website it says that the oem plugs are the double platinum fine wire tip plugs that are over $10 a plug. The iridium IX plugs are about $7 a plug. My question is if it's really worth it to spend 4-5 times more on those other plugs. Do they really last longer or provide smoother idle? Also, the site says that the oem gap should be .028". I thought it was supposed to be .032"? Thanks in advance.

if you're running stock boost, .032 is the magic number. If you're chipped and running higher boost levels, best to gap down to .028 to keep the boost from snuffing out the spark. I'm running the $10/each NGK plugs, about 3k miles old, and can't tell the difference between those and the cheap ones that were in there when i bought the car.

i just got new plugs...Champions for $4-5 each. The drive feels a little better to me. And the sales guy at Advanced Auto Parts told me to gap it at .028.

Should i bring them to .032?

Ok, so where did .032" come from anyway, that Bentley Manual? I haven't gone above .028" so I guess I'll notice a little more power then when I put new plugs in gapped to that spec.
