Default wheel advice

thinking about dressing up my '01 avant 1.8T with new wheels. With the sport package, it currently runs 17 inch stock rims, and tires were recently replaced so I'd like to keep the same size. Thinking BBS designs look the best with these, but prices seem at least 2-4x higher per wheel than most of the competition with similar designs. Any suggestions? Are BBS worth that much extra?

Pictures would be good as well. Here's mine...

If you want to buy aftermarket wheels, i'd save up some cash while you wear out the tires on your stock 17s, then buy AT LEAST 18s. Then, come winter, use the 17s for snow tires

lower your car first....if you get wheels first your car will look like a 4x4....

after suspension then you can look into new wheels, IMO I would stick with the wheels that are on your car...they look good....

get low and then you can think about new wheels....

BTW, if you do decide to get rid of those wheels, i'll gladly take them off your hands =D

thx for the tips. FWIW, its got the sport package, so its already lower than what is typical. At this point I'm not interested in lowering it any more. I had thought of the idea of going with 18s though...

The stock wheels are in decent shape, was told there is a slight flat spot on one of them where I had the tires installed, but they said no big deal. There is a little bit of pitting, plus the jackasses at the dealer where I bought it put it through an automatic carwash at the time of purchase and scraped them a little bit. I brought it back the next day to complain and they said too bad, you signed the papers, how do we know you didn't curb the wheels? etc. I haven't touched a curb with them in the 7 years since, so the same marks are still there.

I'll probably shop around for some deals on 17s locally, and if nothing great pops up wait and do 18s.

my only advice is take your time looking. it took me 4 months to find the wheels i wanted. i finally found the right ones for the right price. just be patient and it's ok to let a set go if it's not in your price range or if you think it's a bit too pricey. when you do find a set you're sure of, check them out thoroughly, especially the inside lip
