Default Wheels stuck to car?!!

Hi guys, I was scheduled for a brake job and get this...Monro couldn't get my rims off. They are apparently completed corroded to the car...The mechanic said he broke 3 sockets...he said heating them up might be a way to remove them...but I have never heard of such a thing. I was scheduled for shock replacement (private mechanic) and the brake job (from monro) and now I'm in trouble.

If anyone has any advice it would be an enormous help. I can't believe what I'm hearing, but I haven't had the wheels off in about 8 months because the car has been running well.

unfortunetly it can some times happen , the studs corrode into the hub,
one of my back studs took nearly an hour to remove, got there in the end after bending a wheel brace.

give them a good soaking with a lubricant for a couple of days.... when you do get them off but a thin coat of copper grease on them

This happened to me too, but I think the OP is having trouble with the lug nuts. A good quality Snap-on brand impact socket with a breaker bar would presuade them to come off- tell Monro to quit using cheap sockets!

gotcha. OP, don't use WD-40. On the grand scale of penetrating oils, it sucks. See if you can get your hands on some PB Blaster or Kroil. Those are much better suited to this task.

+1 on that PB Blaster, a good quality impact socket, and a breaker bar. That should do the trick.

thanks guys, I'll pick up PB blaster tonight.

I need these f'n wheels off! Just found 4 used s4 struts w/ only 48k miles on them for $160...and the seller will install for $200. Really cool avid audi owner, he's been a huge help.

Also getting all brakes done for $440. I'd be halfway done if these wheels could come off, gonna keep trying!
