Where can I mount ballasts for 1-pieces?
K so I just put in 1-piece headlights and Im trying to find a good place to mount the ballast for them. They are VVME ballasts so they are smaller but thicker than the stock ones so they dont fit in the slot on the bottom. I just mount the ballast to the back on the drivers side, but if I mount it on the back on the passenger side the corner of the ballast pokes the intake so im worried it will cut a hole in it eventually.. I dont know of any other good locations to mount it because the air intake that goes from the grille to the airbox is kind of in the way too... Any ideas?
If you have a cone intake, use the bolt on the fender on that side that was used to support the OEM airbox. Put the bolt through one of the holes in the ballast mounting bracket and mount it that way.
If you don't have mounts, the best place to put them is on the front crossmember, on the bottom side of the piece that the headlight sits directly on top of. It takes a little time to do the mounting and you'll have to pull the headlights back out (no biggie), but it's worth the time and effort as they're out of the way and do not clutter up the engine bay.
