Default Whine

I was wondering if you guys could help me with a problem. Today I was driving the car and when ever i would hit on the gas pedal I would hear a whine noise coming from the front of the car. This started happening when i was on the highway. When I was downshifting to first to a total stop the car died on me, the rpms didnt bounce back up they just went to the end and died. Car started right up after tho. When ever I accelerate the car bogs like its choking. I think it might be either a clutch problem or turbo. Has any one had any experience with this problem? My car is a 1999 A4 1.8 quatro. Thanks and sorry for the long paragraph.

I would pop the hood and manually open the throttle and try to pin point where the sound is coming from. That would be a good start. Ohh I'll ask so everyone else doesn't have too get your codes checked.

Your turbo's gone loud noise and is boging down when you get on the power...same things happening to mine....just waiting for money to to buy a new one.

So you definitely think its the turbo? Because I would rather have that than something wrong with the trans. Anyone know where i can get a ko4? How much do they go for?

Nvm guys i fixed it. Turns out one of my coupler clamps for the intercooler slid off, which I have no idea how maybe I hit something. But I but it back on and tightened it and it started working again and no lag.
