Default Wiper delay toggle/ Unusual warning light

Hi All,

I just picked up a 1996 A4. I used to own a 2001 A3. With the A4, I cannot find the toggle to choose how much of a delay I want for the wipers. There are 4 standard positions for the wiper lever: Off, delay, slow repeat, fast repeat. If I have the option for the delay, why can't I choose the actual time delay between wipes? I cannot find it ANYWHERE. On the A3, the toggle was on the top of the lever. On the A4, at the tip there is a toggle switch but that controls the dash heads up information. On the underside there is a reset for the dash heads up info.

I'd check the manual but I can't read German. Trying to find a place to obtain the A4 B5 owners manual (free) in English but until then, thought I'd try here first.

I also have a warning light that seems to come on when the speedo passes 130km/h. The emblem that pops up is the KM/H sign with the number 2 on the bottom right of it. It must be some kind of speed warning. In reality I'm doing 125 km/h due to the faulty speedo that Audi seems to have (A3 did the same thing). If this is just some courtesy speed warning light, can it be shut off? If so, I assume the only way to do that is VAG COM?

The 96 doesn't have an adjustment for the wiper interval. At least my dear departed US spec 96 didn't.

The speed warning is something you can set/delete from the dash. I'm too lazy to go down to my car to look at the manual, but I'll scan the page that tells you how. I think its the same procedure in my 99.5 as the 96.

Yeah if you could set the delay speed, there'd be a little 4-position switch on top of the stalk. We were going to see if retrofitting a later delay stalk into my friend's 96 would give him the ability to delay them but he ended up selling the car.
