Default Won't Start. ECM?????

2001 A4 1.8T

Anyone know how to check to see it the ECM is getting power?

Scanner is not communicating with the ECM. Car won't start. Battery tested good at local parts store.

Had a blown engine control fuse which I replaced but it's still not working. My guess is that the ECM relay is bad but I'm not sure how to check it. None of the pin's to the ECM show voltage but I'm not sure I'm checking it correctly.

Any ideas would be appreciated,
Thanks!

Default More info

So I've been playing around more tonight. Here's what I'm finding...

When I turn the key to the "on" position I am not getting any power to the following fuses:

28 - fuel pump
29 - control unit engine
32 - control unit engine
34 - control unit engine

I'm assuming these are related to my problem. Somewhere... somehow... I'm not getting power to the ECM.

The large 40 Amp fuse in the ECM is hot and so are the #87 pins in both ECM relays.

Any thoughts???? Electrical problems suck!!!!!

Is it cranking over at all? Or is it doing nothing at all when you turn the key?
If its not doing squat when you turn the key pull the electrical part of your ignition switch out and look for a crack in the casing.

Default It cranks

It cranks and cranks and cranks but won't start.

I did hook up a diagnostic tool yesterday (not a VAG but I don't know what it was. My neighbor sells them to repair shops in the Rocky Mountains so it's commercial grade). It said it could not communicate with the ECU.

Try the engine coolant temp sensor. Those boogers cause all sorts of problems.
Ecs has them on sale
