Well from what do you think i should pay for the car? Should i offer 4900? More/less dont know what these cars are worth all i have to go by are kbb and exmunds i need some inside info I really want this car its hard to find one around here that is manual turbo awd with under 200k....
That's not really a steal.
Where do you live?
I sold my car for 7k and it just hit 100k miles.
I also had some upgrades done to it.
It's gotten hard to find b5's in my area for that price.
But two years ago i bought a pearl white with 70k miles, And needed suspension work for 5k.
I got control arms for 250$ and it was set.
My cousin is looking for one with low miles like that, and he hasn't been able to find one.
If you need a car now jump on it, if not you can wait or see but that's not all that bad compared to what I've been watching.
As for timing belt since your doing your own work, it can be around 250+ for the more enhanced kits.
Ive bought form blauparts and i love them.

I was actually in the same exact position you are currently in. When I started looking for my car I had my mind set on a black b5. It took me a while to find it and unfortunately I didn't find one with the interior I wanted. The next thing was it was hard to find one with decent miles on it. Most of the ones I found were around 150,000. When I purchased my car I bought her for 4000 with 103,000 miles. I brought it down from the 6,500 he wanted it for. He had some ugly wheels on the car, told him to take them off and keep them which lowerd the price. The guy also did not service the car for the 5,000 miles he had the car. I explained how the timing help, water pump, breaks all needed to be replaced. And finally!!!!! I took her home. I have not had one single problem with her aside from the window regulated problem on the drivers door and a dumb *** that hit me on my door 3 days after I got it fixed -_- anyways goodluck! I think 5k is good for the car but I would still try to get it for 4.5 trust me you'll love the car especially in the snow.
It all really depends where you live and how long your willing to hold out for. I just sold my first 98 A4 that was super clean for 4,000 with 156 miles on it. I live close to the bay area where these cars were really popular for a period of time and now everybody seems to be selling them driving down the price, which is kinda a good thing for us cause it makes getting parts extra cheap. This is my second A4 that I just picked up last week for 7,000. https://www.audiforums.com/forum/b5-...-there-178164/ Personally I wouldn't pay more than 5,000 for something that wasn't immaculate and well maintained. Some things to look out for are sludge( 5w40 or 5w30 full synthetic only), The last time they replaced the CV axles, ask what kind of gas does it take, if they say regular 89 DON'T BUY IT. Brakes, tires and other basic maintenance can be used to drive down the price. The key thing is to point out everything that is wrong with it without offending them. Good Luck!
service records is a big one. on the test drive make sure you get into lots of boost and see how it reacts. listen to any sounds that change with speed.
if everything is good besides those listed by you, i say no more than 5500
