Default wtf is this?

so after replacing the valve cover gasket i decided to do an oil/filter change. before the oil change the oil level was in the middle of min and max cuz i was leaking though the valve cover gasket. i got all of the oil out and put it a 5quart bottle while i still had the front end lifted up. got the car leveled to see the oil level and it goes up like 1/3 of the way on the deep stick wtf is wrong with it? also i put the old oil in the 5 quart battle and it filled up all the way. should i just wait for the oil in the deep stick funnel to go down? i am confused cuz i though the car takes more like 6 quarts and i only put in 5 (i still got 1 quart bottle left)

is it the 1.8 or 2.8?

in the owners manual for the 2.8 it says a maximum of 5.5 quarts should be used...

did you clean off the dip stick after you put the car back on level ground?

how long have you let it sit?
it still has to drip down through the whole engine into the oil pan, it will take a little bit.

yes, i keep checking every like 5 minutes and its kinda going down. now its right above the plastic piece that shows max and then like 2 inches above are clean and even higher there is still oil on there. ohh and also after i put it on level ground and let it run, some weird clicking noise was coming from the airbox.

the new oil hadn't made it to the lifters/valves yet.

once the oil runs through the engine it should lose the ticking sound.

sometimes when i start mine from sitting after a day or so it gets the same ticking sound until it gets all lubed up.

i'll start it and let it run for a while, maybe the oil level will go down?

if you let it run it will show full on the dipstick.

i'd let it run for a while, so it can get all the oil through before you drive it,

then let it sit for an hour or so so the oil will settle in the pan, then check the level.
if you're still low you probably have a problem.

Your original post is kind of hard to understand, but you drained your oil, filled it back up and now its reading way to much oil on the dipstick? Did you possibly drain your tranny and then fill your motor oil with an extra five quarts?
