Default Yellow Oil sensor light

I have a 2001 A4 1.8T that has has the yellow oil sensor light on for about a month, the picture of the little oil can. Also the oil temp doesn't move anymore. The guy who I take the car to said that the oil temp sensor was probably bad and probably needed to be replaced. The car has 170k miles on it and I can live with a yellow light but if I can fix it myself I would like to give it a try. However I can't find much about this like I can a lot of other things. I was hoping to get some tips on finding out exactly what the problem is and if it's something I can try to fix my self. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks!
Rick

If you take a look at the bottom of the oil pan, there is a small triangle thing with a wiring harness coming out of it. that is the failed sensor. Obviously if the wires arent there, then thats your issue, but its not tat bad to replace. drain oil, replace part with red rtv as a seal
