02 A4 1.8T noob questions
I'm running BKR7E's because I'm running more psi with bigger turbo and advanced timing. They run one step colder. I'd run 6E's on a stock K03. Copper plugs are great; I'd never switch back. With coppers and Hitachi coilpacks, I'm running real smooth. Just gotta change them with your oil changes, but it's an easy job, even with the Hitachi bolt-down coilpacks.
I personally wouldn't run anything but the Mobil1 0W40 full synthetic. Period. But that's just me.
I would watch on .032 gap, though. I'd go a little smaller on a copper plug.

In the end its your car and your investment...I would gladly pay the extra money for the Audi spec....the whole timing was made for plug. Its not fun driving down the highway and blowing a coil pack (which is 30ish) because you saved 20 dollars on cheap plugs.

Alright got the oil/filter change done and repalced the spark plugs. The plugs that came out looked fine but I threw the new ones in anyway (with antiseize of course) The car had ngk iridium plugs in it.
Now I just have to figure out why the CEL is on
These cars certainly arent DIY friendly lol. I'm spoiled by my easy to work on Mustang
I can do head gaskets on that with my eyes closed.

im suprised no one flamed the hell out of you:
this aint no mustang! you can forget everything you know about them except the common sense part... german cars are safe, fun reliable and look great! but they are quirky and expensive to fix, and maintain... as are parts....
Please dont get damn autolites! thats just sad, Hitler probably rolled over...(do u use 87 octane too?)
The factory plugs are higher priced but last 50-60k miles! Most high performance applications do use copper plugs but require freqent changing - no adverse effects on engine
0 40w mobil is what i use as well, it meet audi oil specs and i also use the m-301 mobil 1 oil filter for its ease of finding it!
Dont take cheapo shortcuts on your car, it will cost you in the long run-
now on to coilpacks-audi b6 1.8ts coilpacks are known to blow randomly... get the latest revision R or hitachi E s so you dont have to worry about it...if you engine starts sputtering and you get a CEL-bam i told ya so!

Why wouldI get flamed for talking about an other car I own? Its called being a car enthusiest, not brand loyal
I used 93 octane (same gas i use in my 11:1 compression 347 MUSTANG). I will look into the better plugs next time I change them. For now, it was merely a matter of getting to know the car by doing basic stuff myself (aka: oil change and spark plugs) I have reciepts showing the coilpacks were changed. Now i know what to expect in the event they decide to break, thanks
Sherman, I noticed the CEL on the ride home when I bought the carmonday night. It also said the left front fog is out, but its not, its just not a stock bulb (I thought the CEL was on because of the bulb). I just noticed that the CEL is not on anymore so i'm guessing after doing some driving, it cleared itself.

The CEL was probably just a fuel system error froma loosegas cap or something. Anyways, enjoy the complicated relationship you have now entered with yourAudi. PS. Audizine is another great resource for information.

go to autozone and scan...fuel is crappy call and no you can't get it from a headlight. Get the codes and post here...My bet is missfires or coil packs.
If you read it right, he got the CEL before changing the plugs and right after he bought the car. Now that he has switched plugs and oil, the CEL is gone. Plus there are plenty of newer makes of cars, including our own, which throw codes for a evaporative emissions leak (aka 0455) which is commonly caused by a loose fuel cap. Plus the guy knows cars, even if his specialty is not German makes. So I'm assuming that he would know he was misfiring without pulling any codes and would have stated that previously. I'm not trying to discount your knowledge on Audi's but I know from my own experience, as well as many others',that the copper NGK's work without damaging the coilpacks.
