03 A4 keyfrob & unlocking issues, please help
Ok so I am a subaru guy and I am baffled with this on my GF's car. Last week the keyfrob was working then not working. I said let me change the battery. Went to Radioshack got a new battery now it doesnt work and the only thing that unlocks the door in the key. Now I am not sure if something needs to be done to the keyfrob or if the keyfrob battery was even dead. Also the trunk wont open from inside the car just by the key. Anyhow I went to Advanced and had them test the car battery which was working perfect. Can someone please help me out or point me in the right direction?

If you have the manual there's instructions of how to sync your remote to your car. I believe you start the car or just open the key a few times, something like that, then press the unlock button and it works, it takes a few tries though.

I had this exact same problem, I just got my car last week so I changed the battery and sync'd it up and what happens with mine is after about an hour or to it gets disconnected again and I have to re-sync it...now its like after I sync it, it only takes a few moments then its not sync'd again and the process just keeps happening? Any idea? bad transmitter, bad key, bad ecm? thanx guys

I have a similar problem. How do i know if i need to sync or program the remote? Ever since i bout my car, the car wont open or close with the remote. I have only one key and that's the only way i can open or close my car. I have no instruction manual in my car. I did check the battery and its good...

its not the battery ... many people have had our similar problem mine has now been working for 3 days in a row. I took the remote apart got to the motherboard air cleaned it and put some alcohol on a toothbrush and cleaned all the contacts. Made sure the metal contact point rim was completely touching the battery and also the small contact point in the upper left hand corner was completely rapping the two points that come down on it when you put the key back together. Hopefully mine conintues to work, now if I could just get the steering wheel controls to always work instead of intermitadently
