Default 04 a4 Cabriolet Trunk Wont Open

I've seen a few post about this problem but none pertaining to my situation. I just recently purchased the car in question. You can not open the trunk from the remote (it didnt work when i bought the car) the door switch or it i put the key in the lock. It will not open when you try to manually try to get in through the trunk. I have also tried to manually take the top down and bring it back up as i read that may be an issue but still doesnt release. Any suggestions to just to be able to get into the trunk?

Sounds like the latch is jammed or broken. Not sure if you have the split seats, but if you go you can crawl in from the cab and try pulling the trunk release. Then check out the lock and lock release operation. (Maybe this does not work on the convertible - I have only used it with sedans.)

Since its a convertible can't really do that. I have tried the emergency latch when I had the top open some but that didnt work either. Really at a loss just to get it open so I can fix the latch if thats the guilty culprit.

I didn't know it at first, but you can open your trunk with a key even if the electric actuator is not working or your car battery is empty. Just turn the key a bit more.

1. The trunk lock is hidden, so you are accessing it from beneath, just between your license plate lights. But you know that already.
2. You can turn the key for 90 degrees without any resistance. In one of those positions internal trunk release button (inside the driver's door) is operational in the other position that button is not operational. (Some older models do not have an internal trunk release button).
3. But you can turn the key even more in one of two directions, with some resistance as you are mechanically releasing the trunk.

Much appreciated.... I did not know you could keep turning the key to manually release the trunk. It worked as described for my 07!
