2002 a4 3.0l engine shut off, car wont start
Hi everyone, 2002 audi a4 3.0 quattro automatic. Just picked up the car at auction, i got on the highway and my oil light comes on. I pulled over and had one of my buddies get some oil. Put some oil in the car start driving again, drove for like 1 mile oil light comes on again and engine just shutts off. I had about 20 miles left in the tank, now the car will crank when i try to start it but it will not start. Scanned it with scanner, it shows codes for misfires on 4 cylinder, had new coils put it. Still no luck getting it started. Also there is a code for camshaft positioning sensor malfunction. Just wondering what the heck is wrong with this a4, thanks
Having exactly the same problem...funny thing I just bought my 2002 A4 3.0L from an auction aswell it has high mileage 340kms and was running amazing on the way home. The check engine light was on when I bought..didn't scan it yet. On the drive home the oil light came on after 10min of driving, then about 1min or 2min after the oil light came on...the car died....pull over to the side checked the oil level...looked ok and will not start, keeps cranking. Towed it home checked timming belt...its not broke, scanned the codes...8 in total. o2 sensor, cat converter, trans tourque converter something, and lots of misfire codes. Anyone have any ideas on where to look and get this audi started?
Hey guys.....it was the red oil pressure light and I did listen to hear if the fuel pump was comming on....I did hear it come on for a couple of sec when I turned the key on. Not sure how to tell if the cpu is bad? Its been very cold out so I haven't had time to dig deeper. I asked a few friends and we are wondering if the engine has sludging and plugged the oil pump screen and if the 3.0l uses a hydralic cam chain tensioner made it jump timing on the cam??? Is it going to be rebuild time or what?
if it was the oil pressure light, then you might have some mechanical problems. the oil pump might be shot (all things usually come back to a sludge problem). id have your engine checked over for serious damage if its not starting
Ok, we got this figured out. We made the auction put a new engine into our car. They sold us the car with bad engine, we just sold the car with new engine in it. So this worked out great for us, no loss. Thanks for all your help.
