2003 A4 Tranny Question
Hello All!
A little background - After sitting in my garage for 8 months with a blown engine I've finally gotten the engine replaced in my 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro(103,800 miles). Although the engine is smooth and wonderful I've noticed some odd transmission behavior and wondered if anyone else had experienced or heard of anything similar.
So, when I'm on the highway going at a steady speed of about 60+ and hit the gas to say, pass someone...the entire car shunts forward hard and then downshifts very roughly. On deceleration when it shifts into first gear the RPM's dip and the car acts like it wants to stall...AND when I picked it up from the shop yesterday when I put it from park to reverse or drive or any other gear but park or neutral the car would stall every time it went into gear. I've taken the car back to the shop where the engine was replaced for them to double check all of the connections with the engine and they assure me that everything is normal. They don't do transmission work but referred me to a few shops that do.

Before I take it anywhere I want to at least understand a little better what could possibly be causing this so I don't go in blind and dumb. My questions are:
1) Could this be a result of the car sitting undriven for 8 months
2) I'd heard somewhere (possibly mistakenly) that the transmissions on these cars are sealed and thus aren't supposed to be serviced, drained, or have the fluid replaced ever...is this true?
3) What does anyone think may be causing this issue? And what should be done to remedy the problem?
4) How $$ should I expect to spend on this particular issue based on the description above?
Having just dumped $4300 into this monster I'm not super excited about the idea of putting more into it BUT I do love this darn thing and would love to see it driving right again even though the ownership of this particular audi has been less than ideal. (oil sludge in previous engine twice, windows falling, headliner falling in the rear, sunroof rear wind deflector snapping off, sunroof switch faulty, ignition coils faulty, check valves faulty...some normal stuff but some odd)
Sorry for the long post, if anyone could offer any advice i'd appreciate it!
