(2004 A4 1.8T) Camshaft chain adjuster replacement/Cam seal Replacement?
I called a reputable mechanic that specializes in Audi about replacing the timing belt. It has low mileage (49,000 miles) but figured the age requires it to get replaced. I was quoted $1,200 to replace it (tenionsers, water pump, coolant, etc.).
He then said that while they're in there they recommend replacing the camshaft chain adjuster/cam seals. He said that the parts don't cost much, but it takes forever to get in there. So they're better off doing it at the same time to save some $. He said it's an additional 4-5 hours labor plus parts, and would be another $800. All in it would put me at $2,000.
Is this something that's needed? I can't find much information on such a part.
Thank you!

timing
I just had my timing belt changed $2400. The belt slipped so I had to machine the heads, valve job, water pump and hoses and thermostat and vacuum lines. then a week later the cam shaft engine timing variable went out, another $1100 for just the part so ask about this as well.

2004 Audi A4 - 1.8T Quattro - Cam Adustor Leaking Oil
The dealer advised the cam adjustor is leaking oil from the union point from where it joins the cylinder head and the oil is most likely pooling in that orfice. Recommended to solve the issue by replacing the adjuster along with seals for it. Of course, quoted high price for cam adjustor, seals and labor. Is this something can do myself? The car only has 56k miles so willing to repair and get this back on the road. The car starts and miss fires but seems to be fixable since its not a blown head. Is this the cam adjustor? Possibly repair the cam adjuster or should I replace it? What do you advise and any other parts to replace at same time as cam? See attached pdf photo.
