3.0 ecu upgrades?
Hey everyone. Been trying to look into some ways to make my 3.0 faster but everything i've read says there's pretty much nothing. All the posts i read are also almost 10 years old so im wondering if there's any new technology that anyone knows of or has tried. any info is appreciated. thanks. any info on where i could find a good intake would be good too lol

Take a look at JHM (JH Motorsports) they have a few mods for the 3.0
I'm looking at the stage 1 ecu tune....not a bad deal for 500 bucks.
I don't know where you are at but they are in California. About an hour or so away from where I live so their requirement to ship the ecu to them isn't a problem for me but it may be for others. I have spoken to a couple of customers and they seem to be happy with the results....they also have exhaust systems

Thanks for your reply, I actually found a flash from Unitronic. I brought it to a place near me in NH and they flashed it there. I'm pretty happy with it. It brought my hp and torque up a little bit, not a lot, but I do notice it. Plus it gives me better gas mileage and some other things. Also it was only $350 so if you're looking for a similar tune it might be worth checking out
The reason I'm even considering a tune is to eliminate the dreaded catalytic converter DTC codes....these motors are notorious for throwing cat codes when no issues exsist....and since I'm in California there is only one option for cats and that's the dealer....they cost 1200 dollars each. These cars were set with very slim tolerances for cat efficiency...so much so that at one point Audi put out a re flash for the ecu to fix the problem. Unfortunately, its not offered any longer....so to satisfy the State and it's ridiculous regs (bi annual smog checks), I can either spend 4000 to replace cats that don't need to be replaced or get a tune that will eliminate the root cause of the problem.
I know the jhm tune will do what I want it to do. If the unitronic will do what I need it to do, I'm up for saving 150 bucks.
Good luck,. hope you're happy with the tune.
I was going to respond not to waste your money, but if you are happy - great. Generally there is not a lot of power that can be extracted from an n/a motor with a flash. Turbos, on the other hand, have all sorts of upside for power and downsides for breaking other parts due to increased power. I stage 1'd my A6 and kept my A4 stock. (But, I do have a Crossfire SRT6 if I want jump.)
