Default 3.0 Plug Gap

2002 B6 A4Q Tiptronic. About 70k miles on the odometer and I want to put some new plugs in to try and cure a misfire CEL. Bought a set of 6 new NGK's and it iccurs to me that I haev no idea what the proper gap is. My guess is .032, but I'm not certain.

TIA!

I asked the same question earlier and got answer from auditech79. Here is his reply:

------------------------------------------------

The engine would run better if gapped at .032, but it would run just fine at .044. The spec is between .036 and .048, general rule of thumb is when you are running a motor that has a high output for the size of the cylinder bore, the smaller the gap you should run. The 3.0L puts out 225 horse power, which is a little higher than average.

------------------------------------------------

NGK plugs are pre-gapped at 0.044. As auditech79 stated it would run just fine but it would run better with smaller gap.

Thanks to auditech79.

Thank you!

Wasn't positive because the A4 is not listed at all in the little books in the parts departments, but oddly enough the A6 3.0 is. The 2002 A6 3.0 gap is .032 and the 2003 A6 3.0 is listed as .040, so it skind of weird.

.032 it is then.
