AC problems= ECU problem?
hello all, let me start by saying ive followed the forums ever since buying my audi but never posted
anyway let me explain whats going on.
i bought a 2005 A4 1.8t in sept of 2014. everything seemed great. until it started warming up around here (Pensacola FL). Turned the AC on and it seemed to work OK for a bit but then i got some over pressure and it blew out the coolant. started poking around and noticed my passenger side fan wasn't spinning at all and the drivers side would only spin at high speeds. from the research i found on the forums i realized it must have been the fans themselves or the FCM. so i ordered Both just to get them both out of the way and not have to worry about it down the line. installed the new fans and FCM 4 days ago and everything was back to normal...kind of.. Fans worked until i turned the AC on. as soon as you hit the switch the Fans would turn off. anyway after dealing with taking the front end off the car and spilling radiator fluid in the Apt complex i live in i decided i had enough of doing it myself and broke down and brought it into the VW shop that is literally across the street from my complex.
they've had the car for the past 3 days and finally call me today with an apology and a "you've gotta take this thing to Audi." i picked up the car about an hour ago and talked to the service manager and he says that he cant diagnose any further because Audi and VW don't have the same software anymore but he thinks it might be an ECU problem. Could be the reason the previous owner sold the car in the first place. At this point i don't really know what to do. I know if i need an ECU im not going through any dealer. would anyone suggest anything? pull a part, Ebay? or would any of you have any ideas other than an ECU problem? I'm not new to this sort of thing as my last car was a TT 350z and all the trouble that came with that car was the main reason i decided to get something with a little more peace of mind in being stock.
