Question After coolant flush... Please help

So i replaced the coolant temp sensor and also the Thermostat, I put everything back and now when i turn on the car the Coolant warning signal comes on and it beeps 3 times, I was wondering if someone can help me figure this out. I am assuming that the engine temp is too high, the circulation process is not going on right im assuming. on the top radiator hose most of it is hot but the part where it connects to the radiator its not as hot. then i let the air out from the top of the engine's release point.
I basically filled it up with distilled water and turned on the car to let it run and i was planning on draining that and refilling with real coolant
Anyone can help me out to figure out what i am doing wrong ?????????

Thanks
