Aftermarket fog light issue
#1
Anyone have LED fog lights aftermarket? I put some in and they work great. However the fog light malfunction is showing up on my DIC. Help???
(Was gonna attach some pics but app kept screwing up. Disregard.)

Negatory. Wrong pics. App kept dumping on me. They're H11 foglights. They're just LED's. I got aftermarket headlights and those work great. Apparently my car is programmed for incandescent foglight bulbs, maybe?
***Update***
Figured out what it was. Apparently LED's don't have as much resistance as incandescent bulbs. Makes sense, since LED's are cooler and use less electricity. However, the car thinks that loss in resistance indicates a blown bulb (blown bulbs don't complete the circuit, and therefore have NO resistance). So, for all you people thinking of upgrading to LED's, make sure you get a LOAD RESISTOR WIRING HARNESS. It has a resistor built in-line so your car's computer gets the resistance in the circuit it needs to be happy. Mods, if this isn't already common knowledge it might be worth posting on a sticky.

its common knowledge. Honestly why are you putting leds in your fog lights? WHy not just install hids and call it a day. about 100 times brighter and will match your headlights if they are hid. . . . plus you can obtain a hid kit for under 50 bucks. once you buy the resistor and the leds you will pratically be up to that price with very little light output.

Probably because I'm new to the fashion industry. My vehicles always had tow hooks where these foglights are. Country boy from Texas here. Don't have HID's in my headlights, bud. Seen em, and they're too "blue" for my taste. Brochures say it's white, but I can't stand the things. Appreciate the info on em, though.

Hey being a country boy from texas dont mean anything. I have lived in texas and have been exposed to ranching all my life. That dont mean you cant have a little bit of fashion in your car or truck. Heck my 2500 chevy was loaded to the max with goodies. either way i just want you to realize that hid kits come in different kelvin temps. you can pick any temp you want. Hid kits range from 3000k which would be bright yellow to 12000k which would be dark blue almost purple. If you wanted to get a hid kit that is white you could get a 4300k kit which would look white!

well ebay isnt the place to buy from. You can buy a quality kit with lifetime warranty from DDM Tuning: HID and LED Lighting . the 6000k will still be blue. Like i said before the 4300k or 4500k is virtually pure white. 6000k will have ablue in it and if its from ebay it will be blue blue. And Trust me when i tell you im not wrong. the lightoutput from led to hid will be mind blowing.
